How do I enroll?

You will need to enroll in placeholder (FRSP) hours until KU receives the final scores. The instructions for how to do this enrollment process are located in your Office of Study Abroad account. If you have any holds on your account, you will not be able to enroll.

Why are items not showing up in my Office of Study Abroad account? 

There is an administrative lag-time between the time you turn things into the office and when they are posted.  This could take up to a week.  If it has been more than one week and you items are not showing up, please contact the office to find out the status.

Do I need a visa?

Yes, your study abroad coordinator will work with you to secure the visa. Project GO will cover this expense.

What if I have already taken Hindi before?

You will have a placement test administered by the University before enrolling in classes, so do not buy books until after you have been advised. You will also be post-tested a requirement of the Program on the ILR scale.  This exam is separate from your final exam.

What does Project GO money pay for?

Your tuition, fees, books and some activities are covered by this funding.  You will want extra money for incidentals.

Can I take the culture class on Project GO money?

Yes. The culture class is included in this program for students who are not absolute beginners. You will receive three credits in the Indian cultural component of this trip.

When can I expect to find out the exact program start date?

The program dates will be determined later in the year.

Which books do I need?

The books being used are published by the Landour Language School.  There is no need to buy books until you arrive at the school.

Do I have to attend the pre-departure orientation at KU? 

Yes. An online orientation with all people going on the trip will take place roughly one month before departure.

How do I get my transcript?

If you are KU student, the courses will automatically be transferred to your transcript.  If you are from another school, the grades will first be applied as KU credits and then sent to your home school. You must tell the OSA where to send your transcript after they receive it.

How long do I have to wait to get my transcript?

The transcript will normally be released a month after the program ends.

How do credits transfer?

All grades and credits will show up as KU credits. It is up to you to see if your home school will accept these credits.

Will Project GO purchase my plane ticket for me?

Yes. You will work with the travel agency chosen by the Office of Study Abroad to join the group flight to India. In accepting Project GO funding it is important that you comply with the group flight regulations.  Project GO travel funding has significant restrictions and not all flights comply with federal regulations of the Fly America Act.

What do I need to do if I want to travel on the weekends?

With the exception of the group excursions, you must notify the program leader if you want to "check out" for the weekend.  This is for your own personal safety.

What do I need to do if I want to travel to another country?

If you wish to travel to another country from your host country, you must have prior written consent from your host university AND notify the Office of Study Abroad. Travel to countries on the U.S. watch list is not allowed.
